VGP – Viet Nam has earned US$8 billion in the first four months of the year from exporting agro-forestry and fisheries products, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
Forestry product exports hit US$1.5 billion, seafood US$1.9 billion and agricultural products US$ 4.6 billion.
The country exported 2 million tons of rice and pocketed US$989 million in which China and Malaysia occupy 40% of the total export volume.
The country exported 258,000 tons of rubber worth US$754 million, an increase of 30.4% in volume but a drop of 12.9% in value.
Tea exports reached 39,000 tons and earned US$55 million, year-on-year rises of 19.1% in volume and 16.3% in value, with exports to Indonesia and Saudi Arabia double that of the same period last year.
Cashew nuts and pepper still maintained their growth in both volume and value.
Timber and furniture represented US$1.4 billion with the major importers being the US , China and Japan./.
