PANO – An action month for children, “For a safe, friendly and fresh environment for every child”, will take place in Hanoi from June 1st to 30th, according to the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Welfare at a press conference on May 25th.
The month, with various activities, aims to make a big change in elevating awareness and responsibility of the community about the role and importance of child-protection in sustainable development of the country, as well as calling upon society to build a safe, friendly and fresh environment for children.
After ten years of implementing a program, “National action program for Vietnamese children in the period of 2001- 2010”, Vietnam achieved some set targets, such as free health check–ups, cultural and physical education, and supports for needy children.
However, the country is also facing many challenges, such as high rate of malnourished children, increasing number of HIV/AIDS patients, school violence and so on.
It is expected that the action month will help Vietnam reduce current challenges and help children have a happy and healthy summer.
