AVG wants to supply cable TV service

By Van Oanh - The Saigon Times Daily

HANOI – Audio Visual Global Co. (AVG) is seeking approval from the Ministry of Information and Communications to provide cable television service in the coming time.

To enhance television signals, AVG has been collaborating with FPT Corporation to install a cross-country fiber cable line stretching from north to south with a length of 2,000 km since the middle of last year. The project is set for completion by the middle of this year.

AVG wants to provide cable television services in order to make full use of its newly-invested fiber cable system and strong human resources. The firm shows keen interest in developing a coaxial cable system to directly offer low-cost cable TV services to all households.

AVG and its partners will pour VND12 trillion into the cable TV project if it is given the green light. The firm will set aside VND5 trillion within the first three years.

Apart from AVG, other communication giants like Viettel and FPT also have plans to jump into the lucrative cable TV sector.
