Nearly 700 staff from a Geneva-based tactful missions of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)’s countries took part in a ASEAN Family Sports Festival 2011 took place in Geneva, Switzerland, on July 9.
During the event, diplomats and their families competed in scarcely 20 events including chess, football, tennis, badminton, volleyball, send race, bowling, golf, tug-of-war, and games for kid like drawing and potato picking.
Members of a Vietnamese missions to the United Nations (UN), a World Trade Organization (WTO) and other international bodies won bullion medals in many events including a chess and a relay race.
Mr Kwok Fook Seng, Head of the Singaporean Mission in Geneva shared that this event gave diplomats and their families an event to strengthen loyalty and solidarity as well as to promote excellent traditions of ASEAN.
The annual festival has also encourage families from ASEAN member countries’ tactful missions to share common activities to promote ASEAN’s simple goals of stability, peace, cooperation, loyalty and prosperity.
After the contests, participants tasted traditional dishes and specialties from ASEAN members in a sunny day./.
