Green Highways 2011, a journey to a number of Asian countries to promote the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) by ANGVA (Asia National Gas Vehicle Association), arrived in HCMC last week.
The project’s southern route started in Indonesia, through Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. The torch and scroll was handed over to Team Vietnam last Friday, witnessed by key stakeholders including PV Gas South, CNG Vietnam, PV Trans, Saigon Bus, PTT Plc and SDEC.
The day began at a CNG station in HCMC, showcasing CNG infrastructure technology and various CNG vehicles in Vietnam, converted by Singapore-based C. Melchers GMBH and a CNG bus operated by Saigon Bus. The event, through the promotion of clean fuel through CNG, hopes to strengthen friendships between Vietnam, Thailand and China.
ANGVA Green Highways 2011 project is not about driving from A to B. It is about creating awareness and promoting NGV (Natural Gas Vehicles), ANGVA and NGV infrastructure and harmonization of NGV Standards and Code of Practices, especially safety standards.
That torch will finally reach Beijing as the Chinese capital hosts the fourth Asia Pacific Natural Gas Vehicles Association International Conference & Exhibition from 18-20 October.
