AFP presents important software sets to Vietnam

PANO – The Australian Federal Police (AFP) handed over two sets of software for data analysis and electronic evidence to the Department of Hi-tech Crime Prevention and Suppression (C50) under the General Department of Crime Prevention and Suppression, Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security.

At the handover ceremony, Major-General Tran Trong Luong, Deputy-Director of the General Department of Crime Prevention and Suppression, stressed that “the set of software, totally valued at US$ 52,100, will help improve C50’s current software system. In addition to assistance in English training for C50’s officers and troops, the donation demonstrates a close cooperation between the Vietnamese Police and Australian Federal Police in the fight against internet crime”.

Regarding damage by hi-tech crime, Mr. Richard Terry, Head of AFP’s representative office in Hanoi, revealed that hi-tech crime yearly causes up to US$ 400 billion in damage, ranking second in damage by different kinds of crime in the globe.

Mr. Richard Terry also confirmed that the cooperation with Vietnam is the agency’s vital task in which the two countries could learn experiences from each other.
