VGP – The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will provide a US$212 million to carry out a project on water supply for over 3 million people, according to the international institution’s announcement on Tuesday.
The funding is part of the bank’s commitment to granting US$1 billion financial loan to Viet Nam, which was reached by the two sides last year.
The project is expected to benefit 94,000 households in four provinces of Binh Duong, Dak Lak, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Tri and two cities of Da Nang and Hai Phong.
Under the project, water supply companies will build water supply plants, pumping stations and water supply pipes.
ADB predicted that 15 million people would access to piped water over the next ten years under its financial support program.
Earlier, Viet Nam set targets to attain 90% piped water coverage by 2020, with universal coverage targeted by 2025./.
