A drug-trafficking ring broken up

PANO – The Drug Crime Prevention Force, under Border Guards in Ha Tinh Province, have successfully broken up a drug-trafficking ring at Cau Treo International Border Gate.

At 5pm on August 18th, the Force, in conjunction with border control guards, laid an ambush at the gate and arrested two suspects with 5.4 kg of methamphetamine valued at approximately VND 6 billion The arrested suspects are Nguyen Thi Hanh, born in 1969 and her son Nguyen Canh Chien from Vinh City, Nghe An Province. They were traveling on a passenger bus from Laos.

That was the biggest amount of methamphetamine found to be transported via Cau Treo International Border Gate to date.

Initial investigations revealed that the drug was sold by a Lao suspect who lives in Pacxan Town, Bolykhamxay Province.

The case is under further investigation.

The Border Guard Headquarters have quickly praised the joint force.
