My schoolfriends and I were excited when our teacher told us we were going to visit Khu Du Lich Suoi Tien (Suoi Tien theme park) in District 9.

So we packed our bags and got up at 5 a.m. and made our way to our school – Le Van Sy Elementary School, 322 Nguyen Trong Tuyen, Ward 1, Tan Binh District.

There are 40 students in my class but the whole school was going on the trip, everyone was looking forward to it.

The bus journey took around an hour and once we arrived the fun began. The resort is a tourist location and entertainment area but also focuses on cultural and historical education and is designed on a huge scale.

Annually around 2 million visitors come to the popular park which is inspired by the nation’s legends. The designers built the area into four Fairy Streams of metal, wood, water and fire as they dreamed of beauty and harmony. The theme park’s sacred animals are Dragon, Unicorn, Tortoise and Phoenix.

It is a huge complex and includes a world of myths and fairy tales. There is also a giant underground aquarium which displays over 500 species of marine life.

We visited the Dao Thien area which celebrates our ancestors and national heroes who defended Vietnam. The theme park teaches Vietnamese people a lot about our history and legends such as Au Co and Lac Long Quan as well as the Battle of Son Tinh and Thuy Tinh (The Mountain and River gods).

There is also a wonderland portal which makes visitors feel they are entering a majestic forest.

We were brave enough to visit the Crocodile Kingdom with more than 1,500 crocodiles to see from above and also went to the huge dinosaur garden. Apparently some visitors feed the crocodiles with raw meat attached to fishing poles.

But the highlight of our day was the dolphins. They played games, jumped through burning hoops and even danced with each other to music.

The park is very colorful and has colorful giant dragons, Buddha statues and lush green gardens scattered throughout. There are also workers dressed in monkey outfits taking pictures all day long, they made us all laugh.

Suoi Tien theme park is located near Hanoi Highway in District 9 and is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
