Five people were injured after falling 16 meters when a cable device used to lift people up to an amusement ride slipped due to a technical error in Vietnam's Mekong Delta.

Five people were injured after falling 16 meters when a cable device used to lift people up to an amusement ride slipped due to a technical error in Vietnam's Mekong Delta.

The accident occurred at Huong Mai Tourism Area in Chau Phu District in An Giang Province on Tuesday.

Le Thi Lanh, Nguyen Thai Hai Dang, Huynh Tuan Khanh, Huynh Thi Xuan Nha, and Nguyen Thai Duong plunged to the ground, and were rushed to Chau Doc General Hospital.

By Tuesday afternoon the condition of Dang, Khanh, Nha, and Duong was stable. They were transferred to a private hospital for treatment.

Lanh sustained the most serious injury – to her spinal column – and is still being treated at the Chau Doc General Hospital.

The police are investigating the cause of accident.
