PANO – A ceremony to grant KF-Samsung scholarships of the 13th drive worth US$ 97,000 to local students has just been held by the Korea Foundation and the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training.
The event drew the participation of Korean ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Vietnam, Mr. Ha Chan Ho; Head of the International Cooperation Office of the Ministry of Education and Training, Mr. Tran Ba Viet Dung; General Director of Samsung Consortium in Vietnam, Mr. Shim Won-han; Head of the Korea Foundation in Hanoi, Mr. Jee Chang-sun and local people and students.
At the ceremony, representatives of the Korea Foundation announced 310 scholarships that will then be granted for Vietnamese students with their principles of Korean language, Korean culture studies, technology and technique from 31 universities across the country.
In addition, Korea Foundation officials also unveiled that the fund in association with Samsung Group will, for the first time, grant scholarships to 350 students from policy beneficiary families with good school records in the 7 northern provinces of Hung Yen, Hoa Binh, Ha Nam, Thai Binh, Phu Tho and Quang Tri.
In 1995, Samsung Electronics started its idea to support Vietnamese students by depositing US$100million in the Korea Foundation.
The interest of the deposit is then used to grant to local outstanding students as scholarships every year.
