The southern province of Bac Lieu will play host to the Southeast Asian Judo Championships this October.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan has agreed in principle the organisation of the tournament, in a dispatch to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, asking it to thoroughly prepare for the event.
More than 200 officials, referees and judokas from 9 countries are expected to take part in the tournament.
Ho Chi Minh City hosted the 2010 Southeast Asian Judo Championship with the participation of martial artists from Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia and hosts Vietnam.
Vietnamese judokas triumphed at the event, bagging 13 gold and 2 silver medals.
