team has toured Douma suburb of Damascus, central Hama province and is currently patrolling the outskirts of central Homs province, Neeraj Singh told Xinhua by phone Tuesday.

He said that two observers have stationed in Hama to monitor the situation there following reports of continued clashes between Syrian troops and rebel forces in that area over the past days.

On Saturday, two observers also stationed in Homs. Witnesses told Xinhua that the situation there got calmer after the deployment of observers.

On ground, there are 11 unarmed military observers operating and preparing the ground for the larger mission, which the UN Security Council has agreed to expand to around 300 observers.

The advance team of international observers arrived last week after Syria accepted the UN-backed truce aiming to solve its crisis politically.

Since their arrival, violence has declined to some extent, but attacks and deaths are still reported to take place on daily basis.
