The 11th National Women’s Congress is taking place in Hanoi from March 12-14 with the participation of nearly 800 delegates from different parts of the country.
The 11th National Women’s Congress is an important political event, marking a new step of development in bringing into full play the role, strength, creativity and contribution of women in the process of national industrialization and modernization and international integration.
The event also shows the Party and State’s attention to women and the organization of the congress.
At the congress, women delegates will hear reports on the results of implementing the resolution adopted at the 10th National Women’s Congress and women’s contributions in the 2007-2012 period in the fields of economics, politics, education, scientific research, health care, culture and sports.
They will also hear reports on the Vietnam Women’s Union’s activities in the 2007-2012 period as well as orientations and tasks for the 2012-2017 term.
The draft political report of the 11th congress highlighted the need to encourage women to become involved in the process of socio-economic development and national defence and improve women’s material and spiritual life.
The congress has set a target of enhancing women’s patriotism, knowledge, professional skills, dynamics, creativity, cultural lifestyle and kindness, and building a strong women union responsible for promoting women’s activities and gender equality.
