The 2010 Vietnam Youth Chess Championship opened on August 24 in the northern province of Bac Giang with the participation of 118 competitors from 17 different clubs.
The competitors in the age group between 9 and 20 will play standard chess and Swiss chess with the first and second games scheduled for August 24.
There will be 14 medals up for grabs at the championships, and the most outstanding players will be chosen for future regional and international tournaments.
The competition is scheduled to finish on August 30.
