Nhan Dan - The 29th National Nhan Dan (People)'s Newspaper Table Tennis Championships, competing for the PetroVietnam Cup will take place in the northern province of Hai Duong from April 18-24.
The tournament, jointly organised by Nhan Dan Newspaper, the Vietnam Table Tennis Federation, the Hai Duong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and PetroVietnam, will attract 100 men and women players from 14 teams including the Police team, Hanoi, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Khanh Hoa, PetroVietnam, Viettinbank, the Army team, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Quang Tien Giang, Hanoi T&T, Ho Chi Minh City Telecommunications, Vinh Long and Vietsovpetro.
They will compete for seven sets of medals in mens and womens, singles and doubles and mixed doubles events.
According to Nguyen Duc Long, Head of the Table Tennis Department of the National Sports Administration, this is one of the biggest annual table tennis events in the country and is also a good opportunity to select outstanding players for the national team in preparation for up-coming international events.
This year's tournament promises to provide spectators with interesting competitions with participation from many excellent players such as Doan Kien Quoc, Dinh Quang Linh, Mai Hoang My Trang and Mai Xuan Hang as well as some prominent young players including Nguyen Thanh Luan, Nguyen Van Ngoc, Nguyen Viet Linh, etc., he added.
