Lao leaders receive Vietnamese delegation

A visiting delegation from Vietnam’s National Assembly (NA) External Relations Committee led by Tran Van Hang, Head of the Committee, was received by Lao Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong and Lao National Assembly Chairman Pany Zathotou on Mar. 2.

At the reception, Hang emphasised the high consensus that the two NA External Relations Committees reached in preparing for the meeting between the NAs of Vietnam and Laos , the 7 th Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting (ASEP 7) and the meeting of NA External Relations Committees of Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia this year.

Hang affirmed that his committee will strengthen cooperation with NA External Relations Committee of Laos in professional areas and staff training as well as coordination at international forums.

Leaders of Laos spoke highly of the delegation’s visit and informed the delegation of activities the country has implemented for Vietnam-Laos Friendship Year 2012.

The Lao leaders thanked the Vietnam NA for its effective support over the years. They underlined the need for joint efforts of the two NAs in supervising agreements, stepping up investing cooperation and raising awareness among the two peoples, particularly younger generations, of the traditional friendship and solidarity between the two countries.

The Vietnamese delegation will conclude their Laos visit on Mar. 3.-VNA
