The Ba Ria - Vung Tau People’s Committee have announced that they are changing the date of the ceremony that will mark the 150th anniversary of Con Dao prison first opening its gates.

Originally, it was to be held in 2012, but after encountering serious difficulties when promoting the event and trying to attract visitors during the rainy season, as well as a lack of sponsors, the event has been put on hold.

It will now be moved to 2013 to coincide with the inauguration of the province’s Culture and Tourism Festival.

The local tourist association is currently busy informing the local business community to promote the event to attract as many visitors as possible.
