This year’s traditional Vietnamese martial arts festival will be hosted from August 1-3 in the central province of Binh Dinh with the participation of over 1,200 local and foreign martial arts instructors and disciples.
The province’s authorities expect the festival, along with a series of cultural and tourism activities, will attract tens of thousands of visitors to the hometown of King Quang Trung. There are 40 local martial art troupes with 950 members and 20 foreign martial art troupes with 317 disciples registering for the event, said Phan Trong Hung, director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The participants will compete and perform at six local martial art clubs - Phi Long Vinh, Phan Tho, Ho Sung, Ly Xuan Hy, Le Xuan Canh and the Long Phuoc Pagoda’s club - and other clubs in the locality.
Local tourism agencies will hold cultural and tourism events such as bai choi (singing whilst playing cards) folk game, Binh Dinh food programs and tours to traditional martial arts villages in Tay Son and Tuy Phuoc districts and to An Nhon Town and Quy Nhon City for visitors.
