(CPV) - The Vientiane Times from Laos has run an article offering flowery words for the “underground heaven - Heaven Cave” in the Northern province of Quang Binh in Vietnam.
The Lao People's Democratic Republic (PDR) shares a 220 kilometer border with Quang Binh province.
“Having gigantic mountains, dense mysterious tropical forests, boundless paddy fields and extremely beautiful beaches, Vietnam is truly a destination for international visitors who are fond of exploring and experiencing unique and fresh things. Visitors can see everything they want while traveling here. It is the location of Heaven Cave - a very interesting site that belongs to Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park,” the newspaper said.
The 31km long cave, at 191 meters above sea level, has the most beautiful and spectacular stalactites in the park. Despite the robust geological tectonic process, the whole structure of the cave has been persevered intact. Discovered in 2005, it is the longest dry cave in Asia with fabulous stone bamboo formations, multiform stalactites and other hidden delights. The average temperature in the cave is around 21-22 degree Celsius.
The article also mentions some other unforgettable sites in the park such as Phong Nha Cave, Son Doong Cave, and Toi Cave. Some 92% of the park is covered by tropical forest, 92.2% of which is primary forest, largely made up of tropical dense moist evergreen forest on limestone. Although this area was severely damaged by fire during the war, it is recovering rapidly and is now in a healthy state. It has a high level of plant diversity and there are many vascular plants.
The park takes pride in being assessed to contain the “7 best things” by a National Science Conference held in Quang Binh in April, 1997. They are: the longest water cave, the highest and widest cave mouth, the widest and most beautiful sand and rock bank, the most beautiful underground lake, the most magnificent and miraculous stalactite, the nation’s longest underground river (around 13,969 m), and the nicest and widest dry cave./.
