Portuguese Henrique Calisto, the former head coach of the Vietnamese national football team, believes that his country can beat Czech within 90 minutes of their Euro 2012 quarterfinal match on June 21.
“The match will see a harsh competition at the middle field,” he said in an interview with Tuoi Tre.
“Czech have many seasoned midfielders but I think Portugal will win in the end as they still have better players than the rivals.”
He said the Portuguese people are upbeat about their national team as they have made steady progress.
“Portugal lost at the opener match with Germanh, struggled to beat Denmark, but they played well in the Netherlands test, which is why our people believe in another victory for the team,” he said.
He added however that Portuguese fans have learned from the Russian lesson, who had a superb opening match but eventually had an early exit following the defeat to Greece.
“I think coach Bento and the players will not underestimate their rivals.”
The coach said he expects Ronaldo to shine during the match, adding two goals he scored to the Dutch team would make him more confident.
“Besides, Nani will also prove his talent in the game,” he said.
