National Women’s Open Cycling Tourney begins

Nhan Dan – The 13th National Women’s Open Cycling Tournament – An Giang Television Cup is taking place in the southern province of Binh Phuoc from July 7 to 12.

The annual event features more than 60 cyclists representing nine Vietnamese teams and three international teams from the Republic of Korea, Kazakhstan and Malaysia.

The athletes are racing a total of 475 kilometres in six stages through 11 Mekong Delta provinces and cities, starting from Dong Xoai town in Binh Phuoc province and finishing in Long Xuyen town, An Giang province.

With a total time of 6:29.12, Nguyen Thuy Dung from Binh Duong Water Supply-Drainage and Environment snatched the third stage yellow jersey yesterday from Domesco Dong Thap’s Nguyen Thi Thanh, who claimed it in the two previous stages.

The tournament will continue today with the fourth stage from Ben Tre to Vinh Long.
