Despite being suspended, a Chinese clinic in Ho Chi Minh City continued operation and caused complication to a patient with hemorrhoid.

Nguyen Thi Lan, 28, of Binh Phuoc Province was taken to HCMC-based Cho Ray Hospital on July 19 for emergency treatment of bleeding in her anus that caused great loss of blood.
After being given a styptic injection, some blood transfusions, and intensive care, Lan recovered but needed further treatment.
The woman had earlier been treated at Chinese-owned Hue Ha Traditional Medicine Clinic, at 8B Ly Thuong Kiet Street in District 5, where a Chinese doctor, after examination and testing, said that she had a cancer in its initial stage that would be life threatening if not treated soon.
The doctor told Lan that there were two levels of surgery fees, VND12 million (US$580) and VND20 million, and promised that the treatment will be completed within the day.
Lan agreed to have a surgery for VND12 million.
But after the operation, Lan felt dizzy and hard to breathe. She was put on a respirator and given an injection, but her health got worse.
Her husband immediately took her to Cho Ray Hospital.
Dr. Lam Viet Trung, deputy head of the hospital’s Surgery Department said Lan’s complication might result from the surgery that had been performed wrongly by the said Chinese clinic.
As previously reported, the clinic, along with the others in HCMC, has been suspended for more than a week for employing doctors without practitioners’ licenses, issuing false diagnoses, overcharging patients, selling expired or unapproved medicine, and offering unlicensed services.
Lan said she had not been aware of the suspension and that she came to the Hue Ha clinic after knowing about it through some ads on a TV channel.
