Army unit breaks its record for blood donation
QĐND - Sunday, July 29, 2012, 21:32 (GMT+7)

PANO – The Military Hospital 108, in association with Corps 2’s Department of Politics, on July 28th, launched a campaign “Blood donation for comrades in 2012” at the Corps’ Military School, along with an opening ceremony for the movement “Summer blood drops 2012” of the school’s cadets and officers.

According to Colonel Nguyen Van Bong, Commissar of the School, as instructed by the Defence Ministry, the unit disseminated and mobilized all lecturers, officers and students to donate their blood and enhanced their awareness of blood donation, especially in national events such as the 65th anniversary of War Invalids’ and Martyrs’ Day.

In 2011, troops from the Corps 2’s Military School donated 380 blood units, setting a record in blood donation in the whole-army for a unit under a Corps. This year, there were nearly 600 lecturers, cadres and students from the unit registered to donate 400 blood units and officially broke its 2011 former record.

The new record of Corps 2’s Military School will mark a new development stage for blood donation movement in the whole-army. Moreover, the record set in July shows an important meaning in both medical and social aspects when national hospitals are in severe shortage of blood during this time because students-the main voluntary force in blood donation- are enjoying their summer holidays, said Major-General Pham Hoa Binh, Deputy-Director of Hospital 108.
