The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Royal Palace of Cambodia,
Kong Som Ol, visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Phnom Penh on June 21 to
mark the 45 th anniversary of Vietnamese-Cambodian diplomatic ties
(June 24).
As an envoy of Cambodia’s King
Norodom Sihamoni, his father Norodom Sihanouk and his mother Norodom
Monineath Sihanouk, to mark the occasion, Deputy PM Kong Som Ol
presented Ambassador Ngo Anh Dung with letters of congratulations from
King Norodom Sihamoni to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and
President Truong Tan Sang.
He thanked the
Vietnamese State and people for helping Cambodia to escape from
the genocidal Khmer Rouge regime in the past and to boost national
construction and development in the country at present.
Currently, the friendship and neighbourliness that lie between
Vietnam and Cambodia should be consolidated and developed further
in the interests of both peoples, he stressed.
Ambasador Dung stated that the Vietnamese State and people always try to
develop bilateral ties with the motto, ‘good neighbourliness,
traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term
sustainability,’ which was initiated by senior level leaders from both
