CPV delegation attends South African party congress

A delegation from the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) attended the 13th Congress of the South African Communist Party (SACP) and extended a message of greetings from the CPV Central Committee to the congress.

The congress took place from July 11-15 in Empangeni town of Kwazula-Natal province which was a cradle of the South Africa national liberation movement, with the participation of 1,866 local delegates and 56 foreign guests from 30 communist and leftist parties worldwide.

The SACP delegates focused their discussions on important issues, especially goals set by the political report to take the country toward socialism.

The congress elected a new Central Committee with 35 members and Blade Nzimande was re-elected as Secretary-General.

The Vietnamese delegation, which was led by Truong Minh Tuan, deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Popularisation and Education, was received by Senzeni Zokawana, Permanent Vice Secretary-General, and held talks with Chris Matlhako, Politburo member cum Secretary of International Affairs of the SACP.

The SACP leaders thanked the Vietnamese Party for sending the delegation to the congress. They expressed hope to strengthen traditional friendship between the two Parties and peoples.

On the sidelines of the congress, the Vietnamese delegation also met with delegations of the communist parties of Cuba, India, Nepal, Zimbabwe, Brazil, UK and France to discuss boosting bilateral relations.-VNA
