Ho Chi Minh City medical labs obtain global standard
Updated: 4:35PM (GMT+7), Tue, August 7, 2012
The micro-biology laboratories of Pham Ngoc Thach Hospital and the Preventive Medicine Centre in Ho Chi Minh City have achieved the globally-recognised ISO 15189:2007 standards.

The two facilities received the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) accreditation at a ceremony in the city on August 6.

They are among six medical labs in Vietnam to have met the global standards with assistance from the US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention.

ISO accreditation will enable health care facilities to improve efficiency and ensure reliable test results, thus enhancing overall health care for patients.

The US is now the leading donor for laboratory quality improvement activities in Vietnam, with a total provision of US$7.5 million over the past three years.
