Hand-foot-mouth disease spreads in Ben Tre
As of the end of April, more than 500 cases of hand-foot-mouth (HFM) disease have been reported in the southern province of Ben Tre.
The provincial Department of Health said the number of people infected with the disease doubled compared to the previous week and most localities in the province have reported cases of the infection.
To prevent the spread of the disease, the Department of Health has strengthened monitoring and asked relevant agencies to implement preventative measures and immediately report any cases to ensure they are dealt with properly.
A steering board for HFM prevention has been established to check and monitor prevention activities at private kindergartens and the department is prepared with available medicines and disinfectants for treatment in order to avoid fatalities.
Last year, Ben Tre recorded more than 4,000 cases of HFM, including two deaths.
