A conference on Economic and Tourism Development along the East-West Economic Corridor was held in Dong Ha Town in Quang Tri Province on July 28, as part of the activities in the ‘Trans-Asia Bridge Span Festival’.

The conference featured nearly 20 reports on the diversified cultures, historical sites and tourism potential along the East-West Economic Corridor, by scientists, economists, experts, local and foreign travel companies.

The 1,450km East-West Economic Corridor runs through Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam; entering Vietnam via the Lao Bao International Border Gate in Quang Tri Province and passing through Dong Ha Town, Thua Thien-Hue Province, Hai Van Tunnel and Da Nang City.

The East-West Economic Corridor has brought benefits and opportunities in various fields to countries that it runs through. The member countries should create advantages, reduce administrative formalities and fees, and apply advanced tech systems to electronically control border gates, to attract more visitors to the region.

The ‘Trans-Asia Bridge Span Festival’ opened at the Industry and Trade Fair in Dong Ha Town in Quang Tri Province on July 25, and will provide a good opportunity for the host province to introduce the regions culture, people, traditions and tourist attractions to local and foreign visitors and investors.
