Danang to be covered with free WiFi

HANOI – Residents and tourists in Danang City will get free WiFi access starting from June 2013 as part of the city’s information technology development project funded by the World Bank.
Under the US$1-million project, Danang will install 150 WiFi stations across the city to help citizens and tourists gain access to free WiFi with high speed Internet connections. The free WiFi service is provided in a bid to make it easier for local people to access the Internet to interact with the municipal authority and use the public online services.
In addition, Danang City will cooperate with enterprises to offer many services via this system such as advertising, data services, television and traffic supervision to meet the diverse demand of different segments of people and businesses.
Along with Danang, Quang Nam is trying to provide free WiFi service to residents and tourists in Hoi An ancient town. The WiFi system in Hoi An worth VND25 billion developed by the Quang Nam Department of Information and Telecommunications in coordination with VDC Company started service in March 2012.
At present, there are 350 WiFi stations covering the key areas in Hoi An, allowing people and tourists to gain free Internet access at a speed of 256 kbps.
