Thuy Van and Tri Duc, two well-known Vietnamese sand artists, will bring their works to Birmingham, in the UK, on July 7.
At the event titled “Pure Art” jointly held by the UK’s OST Ltd Company and HCMC-based Phuong Vy Sand Picture Company, artist Thuy Van will showcase her painting which is a copy of Leonard Boden’s “Elizabeth II”, capturing the Queen’s portrait. The sand picture, weighing 160 kilograms, took Van two months to finish. The artist said she used eight kinds of natural sand with different colors and two types of dyed sand to make the picture vivid.
Meanwhile, Tri Duc, a pioneering sand animation artist, will give an animation performance featuring the life of Queen Elizabeth II. Duc said he had to study documents on the Queen’s life, select the best background music and practice carefully for the show to bring fantastic moments to audiences.
The event’s organizers hope “Pure Art” will be the first of many activities to introduce special types of Vietnamese art to the UK.
